If she wanted, he'd pull away. She knew that.

She wanted, ached, but not for him to pull away, so she wound her arms around his neck.

He groaned, lifted her off her feet and away from the door, turning her while he kissed her. Then he looked around as if he didn't know where to take her.

"Across the hall," she said. "We'll hear them if they wake up."

"And they'll hear us."

"We've been quiet so far."

"Listen," he said, as he got close to the door and she reached for the knob. "This is more that just putting off the inevitable. This is us." He said "us" with capital letters. "There's still them." More capitals. "We still have to discuss what to say and how to deal with their grief. You know that, right?"

"I want us." She used caps, too, then she parted her lips, touching her bottom one to his top, parting his, readying him for her invasion, a trick he'd taught her. "How about one perfect night for us?"

One perfect night.

"Such a small request," he said. "It doesn't matter when we tell them. Nothing's going to change."

Queisha released her breath. "Let's lose ourselves in each other."

"I've dreamed of that. Of you suggesting it."

She tilted her head, confused. It wasn't possible. "We just met, silly." Yet she'd known him forever and accepted the knowledge as a gift from the universe. She opened the guest bedroom door, the room across from hers. A man's room, she now saw. Taupe walls, black lacquer furniture, a king bed, striped taupe-and-black bedspread, which she found beneath her, Chance hovering above her, ready to make love to her.

Slake their mutual lust? No, make love, weird as that seemed, considering the time frame of their acquaintance. Forever?

She'd never admit how wet and ready she was for him.

How hard up was she to react so easily and quickly to his advances?

How scared was he to be hesitating? Given his reinvigorated boner, she knew she had his attention, so she'd take the initiative. Problem: it had been years for her. How did a woman of the world take the initiative? The truth. "I'm not sure I know how to be a seductress."

He fumbled at her buttons. "You were doing great on the dance floor."

"Well, there you go. You were leading. But I remember how this used to work." She raised her hips and made Chance hiss while he got harder and seemingly longer. "Still does," he whispered against her lips.

She slipped her hands between them and began to knead that lovely, hard, and growing harder, place. One finger along his length.

He groaned.

Two fingers slow up his length. Her thumb at its base.

Chance took deep, purposeful breaths.

"You like?"

"Like?" he rasped. "So much, I'm going to die of--" He gritted his teeth, covered her hand with his, raised it, kissed her knuckles, and rolled away. He lay on his back, a hand over his brow, his breath coming fast. "Kitten, if I'm going to last long enough to get the woodster from my pants, I need a distraction.
